Registering with the police

Check your visa ‘vignette’ (sticker in your passport). You must register if it has ‘Police registration’ or ‘Register with police in 7 days of entry’ on it.

After you collect your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card in the UK, you will need to book an appointment to register with the police by emailing the police station in your area.

You will need to bring the following to the appointment:

§  your passport;

§  your BRP OR your visa decision letter if you have not yet collected your BRP;

§  two recent passport size colour photographs;

§  £34 in cash;

§  your visa ‘vignette’ (sticker in your passport)

§  Registration Form – if possible you should try and complete this before arriving for your appointment.

The Police Station may take some time to respond to your email requesting an appointment. You may also be allocated an appointment for later in the year. You do not need to worry about this, as long as you attend the appointment on the day.
